I’m among those who’ve enjoyed reading and learning from Editor & Publisher over the years. I’m also among those who hate to see its demise after more than a century of publication.
E&P’s parent, Nielsen Business Media, a division of The Nielsen Company, announced on December 9, 2009, that the publication along with Kirkus Review would cease publication in print and online while also announcing that it had sold Adweek, Backstage, Billboard, Brandweek, Film Journal International, Mediaweek, The Clio Awards, and The Hollywood Reporter to e5Media LLC, which is a joint venture between Pluribus Capital Management and Guggenheim Partners. I hope E&P’s prolific journalists land on their feet soon. Better than that, I hope some media company that appreciates E&P’s coverage of record of the dwindling old media industry will come to its rescue. If not, it will end up in the Newseum. My guess is that will be its final resting place.
